Saw Mill Run subdivision is located in the 1700-2000 block just west of South 4th Street in Lafayette, Indiana.
The Saw Mill Run Homeowners Association, Inc was incorporate in the State of Indiana on August 5, 1983.
The area around Saw Mill Run subdivision includes trees, hills, and a stream. Durkee Run stream runs through Saw Mill Run. Saw Mill Run, a woolen mill, got its name from Durkee Mill which sat on Durkee Run. Competetion from newer mills, in addition to floods and fires resulting in the closing of Durkee Mill by the 1840's.
There was a legend that a train robber had buried his loot somewhere in Durkee's Hollow - but that is not substantiated.
One of the earliest residents in Saw Mill Run was Hal & Nadia Crecelius. Hal and Nadya were the first to live in the Saw Mill Run Subdivision and have been prime examples of what it means to be a good neighbor. Hal’s motto was, “Kindness – pass it on,” and he and Nadya did just that! In memory of the Crecelius's a memorial has been placed at the Fourth Street entrance.
